About Chiropractic
What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a holistic approach focused on the body’s innate ability to maintain good health. It revolves around the nervous system, comprising the brain, spine, and nerves, as the key communication network. The brain sends vital instructions to cells and receives feedback from the body’s environment. However, misalignments in the spine, known as subluxations, can disrupt this communication, leading to diminished health responses.
Chiropractic practitioners identify and correct subluxations, restoring the body’s natural communication network by realigning misaligned spinal segments. This improves nerve function and enables the body to adapt and respond to its environment more effectively, promoting better health. Chiropractic does not focus on treating sickness or symptoms; it emphasizes health care and supports the body’s innate potential for optimal well-being.
In essence, chiropractic is a philosophy, a science, and an art that recognizes and enhances the body’s natural ability to express and maintain good health.

General Questions
Improper motion or position of the moving bones in the spine is called a subluxation. A subluxation can interfere with the vital exchanges of nerve information by causing irritation to the nerves and compromising the function of affected tissues and organs.
There are three basic causes of subluxation. Physical causes include slips and falls, accidents, repetitive motions and improper lifting. Emotions such as fear, grief, stress and anger can cause subluxations. Chemical causes could include alcohol, drugs, pollution and poor diet.
Sometimes, subluxations can clear up on their own. Today’s hectic lifestyles are a constant source of subluxations. Fortunately, our bodies have the ability to self- correct many problems as we bend and stretch and even when we sleep. When subluxations don’t resolve, YOU NEED TO SEE A CHIROPRACTIC PHYSICIAN FOR AN ADJUSTMENT!!!
A chiropractic adjustment usually involves a quick thrust that helps add motion to the non-mobile joint that isn’t moving correctly. Some methods use the doctor’s hands, another uses an instrument or a special table or even just light force of gravity. There are many ways to adjust the spine and joints.
YES!! A New Zealand government study found that adjustments are “remarkably safe”. By avoiding drugs and risky surgery, chiropractic care enjoys an excellent record. A thorough exam can identify the rare person whom chiropractic care might not be suited. Compare the statistics. Adjustments are about 100 times safer than taking over the counter pain relievers and drugs.
NO! Some people can make themselves “pop” but that can be very dangerous, even fatal. Damage may be caused by self-popping due to the joint becoming weakened with lax ligaments and weak muscles. These muscles and ligaments help protect the delicate spinal cord from outside forces such as those done by non-specific seif-poppers. These are NOT adjustments. Adjustments are specific and require years to master. Even your doctor of chiropractic will visit a colleague for a chiropractic adjustment.
Your doctor of chiropractic will provide a thorough exam to find the cause of your problem. Your chiropractor considers the unique circumstances of each patient when developing a care plan. There are many ways to adjust the spine. The method selected will be the best suited to your age, size and even babies have had tremendous success and relief with chiropractic adjustments.
Patient’s results vary. Many report improvements with physical ability and quality of life following chiropractic care. Those who neglect or delay seeking care often see a slower progress. After improvements, many patients discover that periodic chiropractic checkups can help avoid a relapse.
If we are unable to find and correct the cause of your particular health problem, we will refer you to other specialists who may be able to help you. Your health is our primary goal.

FIAMA is a Fellowship in the International Academy if Medical Acupuncture. The post graduate fellowship certificate is awarded after 300 hours of didactic and clinical application. Obtaining this certificate dealt specifically with ancient and modern concepts including theory, philosophy, history, diagnostic methods and specific acupuncture techniques and practices. The techniques and procedures incorporated are from various countries such as Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and Peoples Republic of China. I focus on specific acupuncture techniques that DO NOT REQUIRE needle insertion. These phenomenal techniques use laser and teishein for auriculotherapy, scalp and hand acupuncture points and acupatches for ear and troublesome acupoints throughout the meridians. Gwasha and acupressure are applied to stimulate blood flow and reduce adhesions, stiffness and pain. These I offer as an excellent adjunct to Chiropractic care.
